This Privacy Statement contains important information about how ASC deals with personal information.  ASC's Privacy Policy (CMS-6262) contains more detailed information about how ASC is committed to privacy and compliance with the Commonwealth Privacy Act 1998.  ASC's Privacy Policy is available upon request.

Source of ASC's Obligations
ASC only collects personal information that is necessary for the lawful, ethical and efficient conduct of ASC's business.  The personal information that ASC collects from you is generally limited to your name and contact details in connection with your employment with one of ASC's customers or suppliers or as a result of a direct contractual relationship between ASC and yourself.

ASC does not use cookies or any other similar program to collect information about you when you access and use ASC's website.

Personal Information
ASC collects Personal Information about you when you use the ASC website, make an enquiry with ASC or enter into a contractual relationship with ASC.  'Personal Information' is any information or opinion about you, whether true or not, from which your identity can be ascertained.

ASC only collects Personal Information that is necessary for the lawful, ethical and efficient conduct of ASC's business.  The types of Personal Information ASC collects and holds generally includes (but is not limited to) names, addresses, contact details, and other information that may assist ASC in conducting its business, meeting its legal obligations and addressing your queries.

In most cases, ASC will only collect your Personal Information from you.  ASC will always use fair and lawful means of collecting Personal Information, and where possible, will give you the option of interacting with us anonymously (provided it is practicable and lawful to do so).

ASC may also use third parties to analyse traffic to the website www.asc.com.au which may, in some cases, involve the use of cookies.

If you do not provide all of the Personal Information requested by ASC, then ASC may not be able to answer your queries, provide you with the requested information, products or services.

Use and Disclosure
ASC collects and holds Personal Information about you for the purpose of:
  • providing you and your company with goods and or services;
  • answering your enquiries and providing you with information you may have requested; and
  • providing you (or your company) with information that ASC considers relevant.

ASC may disclose your Personal Information to:

  • ASC's related bodies corporate;
  • other companies or individuals who assist ASC in providing services or who perform functions on ASC's behalf, including (but not limited to) agents, consultants and solicitors; and
  • anyone else to whom you authorise ASC to disclose your Personal Information.
ASC does not disclose your Personal Information to any unrelated third parties for marketing purposes.  ASC will only use Personal Information for the purpose for which it has been disclosed to ASC, and it will not (without your consent) use your Personal Information for purposes unrelated to the services ASC provides.

In limited circumstances, ASC may be required (by law) to disclose your Personal Information to satisfy a law, regulation or to co-operate in an investigation into a breach of a law or regulation.  ASC may also disclose Personal Information about you in order to lessen a serious threat to a person's health or safety. 

Access to Information

ASC takes all reasonable steps to ensure that the Personal Information that is collected by ASC is accurate and complete.  At your request, ASC must give you access to the Personal Information that it holds about you, unless the NPPs or IPPs provide otherwise.  You may direct these requests for access to ASC's Chief Privacy Officer at the contact details shown below.

Security

ASC takes all reasonable steps to ensure that all Personal Information ASC holds is protected from loss, misuse or unauthorised access, disclosure or modification.  As a defence industry organisation, ASC maintains strict security over its physical premises and electronic systems, and access to Personal Information within ASC's possession and control is strictly controlled.

This website may contain links to other websites.  ASC is not responsible for the privacy practices or the use and protection of your Personal Information on those sites.
